If you just want a simple online website to find and compare bible verses, then Bible Gateway may just be the site for you. It also has a few options when it comes to putting content or searches on your own website or blog.
Translations
It has all of the popular translation available (ESV, NASB, NIV, NKJV, NLT, KJV, TM) and a few more. It has various other languages, and also has some in audio format.
Commentaries and Dictionaries
The main weakness compared to some alternatives is that it does not really support dictionaries or commentaries that well. There is a couple of commentaries but these are held on another site. On some translations it does give the option of clicking to see the commentary on the passage, but for some reason it doesn’t happen with all translations. To search a dictionary you have to go to another page – you can’t just click on a word.
Website resources
The site comes with a couple of really good options to use with your website. Firstly, you can add a verse of the day link. This can either be as flash, or php which will allow you to change the way it looks more.
Also, you can link directly into their search engine of the bible. The easiest way is just to copy the HTML they provide. You may prefer to make it more customised though, and there is good instructions to help with the various options.
Ease of use etc.
Searching
The main way to search is simply by typing in the verse you want (e.g. Gen 1:1). However you can type in keywords or choose from a list of topics. If you got to the bible listing you can select books and chapters by clicking on the options with your mouse. This is not really an easy way of searching though (and is slightly hidden within the menus)
The feature I liked most was the handling of viewing multiple translation. You can have up to five and view them in a couple of different formats. Once you’ve chosen your translations you can easily swap them around and change verses.
Navigation
Navigation around the site is straightforward, and relatively intuitive.
Help
There is a clear help guide available.
Presentation
It won’t win any design awards, but it is clear and does not distract you from what you’re doing. All of which help to make it easy to use.
Summary
If you are doing some in-depth study this will not be for you. But if you want to quickly search for some verses then this is quick and easy to use.

My brother-in-law is originally from Mexico and nevertheless struggles to speak clear English. His ESL teacher suggested that he watch American television shows to pick up on idioms that are commonly utilized. He loves to Watch FlashForward Online. so, every chance he gets, he borrows our laptop to try and do just that. My husband and I want to see him succeed in this goal so we are considering purchasing him a laptop for his birthday. He would want to purchase Internet access, but I consider they can afford that on their monthly budget. I haven’t addressed this with my sister yet, but hope to this weekend.

My husband travels to get a living. More times than he would care to count, his organization has booked him into a hotel which doesn’t provide cable Tv. Last year, whilst surfing the web, he came across a site the allows him to Watch FlashForward Online. Now he has one thing to do on those nights when he is bored. This makes me incredibly happy as there were nights when he would go out searching for something to try and do. He would often spend much more out for the town than he had made that day. His career is to bring capital in, not spend much more than he makes.
