This YouTube video from 12StoneChurch is a rap on tithe, a rare thing indeed. It is 3 alleged accountants (which I take umbrage to as I’m an accountant!) rapping in a tongue in cheek manner. It is very funny, and whilst it is rather simplistic in its theology I think few of us live up to the generosity Jesus commended the widow of at the temple

We recently posted on the Lenten guide that Christine Sine produced for last year. She has now updated the Easter guide for this year, and will be adding to it over the coming weeks.

Christine Sine at GodSpace is currently writing an update to her guide on participating in Lent in a meaningful way. If giving up chocolate is as far as you normally go, then this would be a fantastic challenge.
However in the meantime you can look at the version that was used last year, and to be honest you could just use this as it is timeless in content. Christine says that “Each week we focused on a different aspect of the brokenness of the human condition – with activities from easy to challenging that people could participate in.”

The Desiring God blog recently linked back to one of their old articles as a hint for how to help ensure your prayers don’t get stuck in a rut. Praying through the things the new testament church prayed for both helps improve our understanding of the bible, and can help our prayers to be focused correctly. You can find the list here, which includes sections such as:
- They called on God to exalt his name in the world
- They called on God for the fullness of the Holy Spirit
- They called on God for boldness of proclamation

With the beginning of December just a few weeks away thoughts may be turning to getting hold of a good advent calendar. Advent calendars where first used by German Lutherans in the early 19th century, often by simply drawing chalk lines on their doors each day. Now they are often used for children as a great way to count down to Christmas Day when we celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Sadly most advent calendars these days are stuffed with chocolate and may not contain any references to Jesus. Here though are some of the best free online sources of Christian advent calendars, please leave a comment if you know any better ones!
