The Codex Sinaiticus, a 1,600 year old hand written bible, is now available to be read online. It is a very well designed website. It is easy to flick to any book or chapter to see the original manuscript. The greek or hebrew text in the replicated in normal online type to be easier to read, and English and other translations will be added over time. Otherwise unless you know your Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek you won’t get far! The Codex Sinaiticus is the oldest complete greek texts of the new testament.
Clearly, this isn’t going to replace your NIV as a study bible but it is a really interesting website and a great example of using the internet to share things to a number of people that would have been impossible previously.
Logos bible software have just produced a website called ref.ly that provides a URL shortening service for scriptures. This then links directly to the online logos bible. This may not be much use for many people but for anyone writing a Christian website it could be particularly useful.
What sets ref.ly apart from the crowd is that it works on a wide variety of different abbreviations which means it should be easy to use. Also of course it is a very short URL which makes it great for services like twitter or facebook. They provide an example of the various ways you could link to Matthew 11:25–26

The Open Scriptures is a project aimed at opening up the scriptures to be used freely on the internet. This is a great opportunity to provide the scriptures freely to those writing websites in formats that can make the most of the internet’s capabilities.
Some exciting news this week in their monthly update is that the Tregelles’s Greek New Testament has been released under the creative commons license. You can get the texts here if you want to use them on your website or program now!
If you use the ESV API on your website then you’ll be pleased to know that Crossway has updated the ESV Web Service API to include the following reading plans:
- ESV Study Bible
- Literary Study Bible
- Outreach Bible
- Outreach New Testament
If you want to read the bible in 90 days then the Bible Gateway website can really help, especially the bible in 90 days website. the bible in 90 days website has stuff to help your whole church or small group read the bible in 90 days.
Alternatively you can just got to the main Bible Gateway website, where you can subscribe to RSS or iCal links.
If you think you need a bit of extra support then they have just started the 90 day reading challenge.
Bible Gateway has published a list of the 100 most popular verses, as searched on their popular bible study website. The slight difference in this list is that they have only included any searches of three or more verses.

iBibleApps 2.1 have improved their web based Strongs Search iPhone/iPod Touch website by providing a one page table to select the chapter and verse when searching the bible. This menu system works really well on the iPhone as it saves having scroll through long lists, and the table fits perfectly on the iPhone screen.
You can read the full review for the iPhone Strongs Search application here, but it basically a website that lets you search for Strongs numbers and then see the Blue Letter bible’s extensive lexicon on that word.
