Christian audio logoThis month’s free audiobook from christianaudio is God’s Word Heard’s full version of the New Testament.. After this month the link on this post will change to a new audiobook so be quick if you want this one.

There is probably not much to say about why this offering is good – it trumps all other free books provided because it is the word of God. But to give away thew whole New Testament is a great offer

codex-sinaiticus.jpgThe Codex Sinaiticus, a 1,600 year old hand written bible, is now available to be read online. It is a very well designed website. It is easy to flick to any book or chapter to see the original manuscript. The greek or hebrew text in the replicated in normal online type to be easier to read, and English and other translations will be added over time. Otherwise unless you know your Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek you won’t get far! The Codex Sinaiticus is the oldest complete greek texts of the new testament.

Clearly, this isn’t going to replace your NIV as a study bible but it is a really interesting website and a great example of using the internet to share things to a number of people that would have been impossible previously.

refly.jpgLogos bible software have just produced a website called ref.ly that provides a URL shortening service for scriptures. This then links directly to the online logos bible. This may not be much use for many people but for anyone writing a Christian website it could be particularly useful.

What sets ref.ly apart from the crowd is that it works on a wide variety of different abbreviations which means it should be easy to use. Also of course it is a very short URL which makes it great for services like twitter or facebook. They provide an example of the various ways you could link to Matthew 11:25–26

  1. John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  2. Jer 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

iBibleApps 2.1 have improved their web based Strongs Search iPhone/iPod Touch website by providing a one page table to select the chapter and verse when searching the bible. This menu system works really well on the iPhone as it saves having scroll through long lists, and the table fits perfectly on the iPhone screen.

You can read the full review for the iPhone Strongs Search application here, but it basically a website that lets you search for Strongs numbers and then see the Blue Letter bible’s extensive lexicon on that word.
