Mark Driscoll on the prosperity gospel

Below is a fantastic clip from a sermon Mark Driscoll did, critiquing the prosperity gospel (or “name it and claim it”) that is often preached. Specifically he shows a clip from Joel Osteen and explains where Joel has got it wrong. It is done in a strong, but fair and non-aggressive way.

Perhaps most importantly it is inspiring for those of us in pain, whether spiritual, physical or mental. To remind ourselves of what Jesus went through during His ministry can help us not be so self absorbed. God wants us to come to him when we are suffering and get respite from Him.

  1. Mark, go back to your bible and studies the words of God carefully, most importantly have revelation of His Words, put away your head knowledge. God’s word will set you free from your biterness of other preachers success.
The other thing get out, do not let satan use you to go against fellow preachers.
Shalom, and God’s Grace be upon you.
    Jesus is in control
