free Dark Night of the Soul audiobook

christianaudio_logo.jpgChristian Audio’s download this month is Dark Night of the Soul by Saint John of the Cross. Saint John of the Cross lived in Spain in the 16th Century and is renowned as a great poet. He led an amazing life including imprisonment in Toledo (a majestic old Spanish city – if you are near Madrid then go there!) His book, Dark Night of the Soul, is intended to follow the steps of the soul’s ascent to union with God.

Christian Audio give a compelling reason as to why they have chosen this book for their free Christmas audiobook:

You might not think of the Christian Classic Dark Night of the Soul as traditional Christmas reading. But consider its message. The “dark night of the soul” is a feeling many Christians have experienced when it seems like God has forgotten them. For many who go through difficult times, it can almost seem like God is not there. That is not the case. And the celebration of Advent – God with us – is the time of the year when Christians reflect on God’s presence in our lives. Dark Night of the Soul might be the perfect read for many of us who get caught up in the non-Christness of Christmas shopping and hectic schedules.

  2. Hello Bryan,

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately due to the terms and conditions of Christian Audio, the downloads are for personal use only. Therefore once the offer has gone, it has gone. If I put the actual file on this website then I’d be breaking their copyright.

The next best thing may be to go to Christian Classics Ethereal Library which has a free text copy Religious affections.

    You can get it here:

I’m sorry that that is probably not the response you wanted…

  3. Its such as you learn my mind! You appear to grasp a lot about this, like you wrote the e book in it or something. I feel that you just can do with some percent to force the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is magnificent blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.
