Our Daily Bread

Our Daily Bread is a modern daily devotion provided by RBC ministries. It is well known and respected and is available to be delivered free to people in USA and Canada. The devotions would not even take five minutes to read, and are generally of a high quality
At the bottom of each devotion it also gives a little quote that is related to the devotion just read. Finally, you also get the bibles verses that will allow you to read through the bible in one year. It is one of the simpler reading plans and simply starts at Genesis in January and ends at Revelation in December.
Getting the devotion
The easiest way to access the devotion is to go to the main page of the website each day.
You can also subscribe to the RSS feed. However, the feed does not give you the verse or even the full devotion text so it is relatively useless. If you own a pda or Pocket PC, you can also download Our Daily Bread directly to these each day. I don’t know if this suffers from the same problem as the RSS Feed.
You can listen to Our Daily Bread directly on the website via the main page, or even subscribe to the podcast. The podcast does sound like an automated voice (although I may be wrong!), but nonetheless this is a useful addition.

As far as I can tell, you cannot have it delivered elsewhere. There is also no email version that I could locate which is a shame as it really limits the number of people that can view it. It is possible it is buried somewhere in the website but I dug around for ages and couldn’t find it. Unfortunately that was compounded by the fact their contact form was not working so I could not ask them where it may be!
It does seem strange that such a well known devotion would not take the relatively easy steps to make the RSS feed fully functional, or create an emailable version. These oversights really limit the number of people that will benefit from Our Daily Bread.

Our Daily Bread is a high quality modern daily devotional let down by limited availability.

There is a daily devotional “Our Daily Bread” from RBC Ministries sent every day via e-mail. Simply go to their site, look in the upper right corner for Subscribe Today. Click and enter your e-mail address. Simple as that!

I didn’t find a “Subscribe Today” button on their website, but I did find a way to get their email version. You go to the bottom of the site (www.rbc.org) and click on eNewsletters, and sign up there. It’s kind of out of the way, it took forever for me to find.

Hey – Great blog, just looking around some pages, it seems to be a pretty awesome platform you are running here. I am currently using Wordpress for a few of my sites but trying to switch one of them over to a platform similar to yours just for a tryout run. Anything in particular you would suggest about it?
