This is not really a Christian resource at all but I know a few of my readers have their own blogs and websites and thought the post ‘31 great free e-books’ would be worth mentioning.
There is a great selection of eBooks from good usability, creating flagship content, SEO and much more. Even if you don’t want to monetize your website there are some powerful learnings to be made here that could push your website onto the next the level. That can only be good news for your readers! I’ll try to read them all for you guys ;)
Between Two Worlds has recently linked to a useful page of the Top 100 Theology Blogs.
The list was compiled by the Christian Colleges website and is a good selection of Christian theology websites that is bound to have a few interesting blogs you’ve not seen.
There is some debate on the Between Two Worlds blog as to whether this should be the top 100! You can head over to their website to find some more suggestions (in the comment section).
Joe Miller describes his blog More than Cake as “Poetry, art, and insights about life and Jesus”. That is a good summary for this Christian website which is very well written and has some deep and thought provoking articles.
He currently publishing a good series on the DNA of the church and has so far discussed faith and integrity. These are strong biblically based articles that are easy to digest – but yet challenging at the same time.
Joe is a pastor at the Reunion Church in Washington, and has been writing the blog for a couple of years now. He also often produces his own images for the website, I particularly love the one shown to the right of his sons.

With Christmas almost upon us you may be scouring the net trying to find the perfect Christmas themed graphics, clip art, or images for your website. But where do you go to find good quality Christmas related clip art when so many of the images are cheesy or badly designed?
The recent ‘Definitive guide to free Christian clip art’ post from this blog is a good starting point. However a lot of these may not have great Christmas clip art (or any at all) depending on their focus.
The websites shown below are the best places on the internet I could find for Christmas clip art. Stock Exchange and Flickr tend to be more aimed at the social aspect of Christmas whereas the other websites are more likely to have nativity images. This is not a definitive rule though and there is some cross over so you may want to browse through all of the websites!
For anyone who hosts a blog on WordPress, Butler Blog have updated their useful bible verse plugin called Verse-O-Matic.
The basic premise of Verse-O-Matic is that it allows you to display a random verse in your blog or website. You have to add the verses you want rather than them being provided already, with just four examples included in the download.
Ease of use
The Between Two Worlds blog is one of my favourite Christian blogs, indeed it is the blog that I have most linked to from this website. Its strapline is ‘A Mix of Theology, Philosophy, Politics, and Culture’ and on the whole theology does tend to be the most prevalent type of post.
It is written by Justin Taylor from Illinois who has been blogging since the end of 2004. One of the great things about this blog is that it highlights what else is going on in the Christian blogosphere. Justin has a good level of discernment for choosing which posts to recommend which means you are only getting the best from what is available on the internet. Recently he has highlighted the following:
The Don’t Waste Your Life website/blog from Desiring God has recently been given an uplift. It is targeted to younger people (in their 20s) but would appeal to other people too. The inspiration for the site has come from John Piper’s book of the same name. You can read this well received and challenging book free online at the Desiring God website.
A key part of the blog is the video podcasts, which are published on the website, YouTube and itunes. This includes interviews, and mini-sermons from John Piper. They are 1-3 minute videos that combine images and gospel in a way that magnifies Christ and motivates you to not waste your life. New episodes are posted every 1 or 2 weeks. Recently there was a three part interview with the band Mainstay, and you can see the first one below:
You can also join the facebook group which is very active if you are so inclined. It would be great if there were more blog posts on the website, but it seems to be more set up to support the distribution of the free videos. This is not a bad thing though and if you have a spare few minutes it is worth watching a couple, especially if you feel you are wasting your life…
Chris Roberts has come up with a great way to add ESV bible verses onto your Wordpress powered website. It is very flexible and gives you several ways of displaying verses. The key benefit is that you do not need to write out the bible verse, just the reference, so it should save you time. Here are the different ways you can use the plug-in to display verses:
- Tooltip
This is a useful option, as it shows just the bible reference but if you click on it it brings up a pop-up box with the verse. - Inline
This adds the bible reference with the verse and displays it inline in your post. - Blockquote
This adds the bible reference with the verse and displays it as a blockquote for added emphasis. - Link
This is a useful one as it displays the bible reference as it is, but makes it into a link to the ESV website. - Ignore!
This will simply ignore your default setting and leave any bible references as text.
You can set one of these as a default way to display all verses, and this can be overridden on a case by case basis by following the instructions on the plug-in page.
Richard Smolenski runs a great blog called Prudent Musings. Much of the blog is dedicated to apologetics, including highlighting quality free Christian resources you can get on the internet in this sphere. There is also a really good series of articles at the moment on increasing readership to your Christian blog.
Richard is a theologian in training and is currently working on an M.Div. in Theology and Apologetics from Liberty Seminary.

ASBO Jesus is a great light hearted blog, with some superb “cartoons” by Jon Birch. For the non-British an ASBO is an ‘Anti Social Behavior Order’ which are a kind of step down from getting a criminal record (they tend to get given to unruly youths and nasty neighbours!).
The blog is regularly updated, and you can see an example of one of his cartoons below, you’ll have to go to his blog to see more. You may not agree with all of the cartoon – but there are some real crackers in there!
