The Open Scriptures is a project aimed at opening up the scriptures to be used freely on the internet. This is a great opportunity to provide the scriptures freely to those writing websites in formats that can make the most of the internet’s capabilities.
Some exciting news this week in their monthly update is that the Tregelles’s Greek New Testament has been released under the creative commons license. You can get the texts here if you want to use them on your website or program now!
iBibleApps 2.1 have improved their web based Strongs Search iPhone/iPod Touch website by providing a one page table to select the chapter and verse when searching the bible. This menu system works really well on the iPhone as it saves having scroll through long lists, and the table fits perfectly on the iPhone screen.
You can read the full review for the iPhone Strongs Search application here, but it basically a website that lets you search for Strongs numbers and then see the Blue Letter bible’s extensive lexicon on that word.
Memverse.com aims to help you memorise bible verses online. As such there are no flash cards to carry around and no software to download. Even if you like to use flashcards you may find this a useful addition as it helps you track how well you are memorizing the passages.
ESV Mac bible widget

The ESV team have recently released an ESV bible widget for the Mac dashboard. The widget allows you to search by verse, keyword or phrase when you pul up the dashboard. The results are then shown on the ESV study bible website. Whilst you do have to pay to use the full ESV study bible, it will still show the bible verses even if you don’t have full access.
Weston Ruter is trying to revive the Re:Greek project and website. Re:Greek is a great website for studying greek, but has fallen short of the original aims to provide an open source bible study tool.
If you have a passion for the Greek bible, and have coding skills (php etc.) or anything you may be able to add then you may want to consider helping Weston Ruter.

You can now get the full ESV text free to download on your iPhone. The main downside is that it is only currently available in the US so I can’t review it or access it!
If you are interested in buying the new ESV study bible them you may well be interested to hear that for the rest of March you can access the whole of the study bible free online! Normally you only have access to the website if you own a hard copy of the ESV Study Bible.
It is an impressively presented online study bible and worth checking out even if it is only for one month.
Now… how much of it can I absorb in one month!
