Answer in Genesis has a great free book called “War of Worldviews” available from their website.
This books looks at the impact that the secular humanist views of our modern society are having. It looks at various areas and shows how many secular arguments are founded on different word views rather than different evidence. Perhaps the key starting point being that secular evolutionary theory by its very nature would mean we live in a world with moral relativism.
Here is part of the synopsis that Answers in Genesis gives for its book:
Morality is a very difficult problem for the evolutionary worldview. This isn’t to say that evolutionists are somehow less moral than anyone else. Most of them adhere to a code of behavior. Like the biblical creationist, they do believe in the concepts of right and wrong. The problem is that evolutionists have no logical reason to believe in right and wrong within their own worldview. Right and wrong are Christian concepts which go back to Genesis. By attempting to be moral, therefore, the evolutionist is being irrational; for he must borrow biblical concepts which are contrary to his worldview.
There are thirteen chapters in this free book covering a variety of areas, as shown below
- Chapter 1: The “evolutionizing” of a culture
- Chapter 2: Can natural processes explain the origin of life?
- Chapter 3: Are mutations part of the “engine” of evolution?
- Chapter 4: Did humans really evolve from apelike creatures?
- Chapter 5: Does the Bible say anything about astronomy?
- Chapter 6: Does the big bang fit with the Bible?
- Chapter 7: Where did the idea of “millions of years” come from?
- Chapter 8: What’s wrong with progressive creation?
- Chapter 9: Is the intelligent design movement Christian?
- Chapter 10: Can creationists be “real” scientists?
- Chapter 11: How should a Christian respond to “gay marriage”?
- Chapter 12: What’s the best “proof” of creation?
- Chapter 13: What is a biblical worldview?
The Theologica blog recently highlighted a great little summary by Andreas Kostenberger showing the eleven post-resurrection appearances of Jesus that we are aware of in the New Testament.
Whilst it may not be groundbreaking it is a great one page summary including the bible verses to lookup so you can read them yourselves.
The Stand to Reason blog recently highlighted three free videos explaining the existence of God from Jim Wallace at ‘Please Convince Me’. These are good quality videos and can be used on your website or any talk/study you may be doing.
If you visit the Please Convince me website you can view the videos via YouTube, or even download them and use them yourself to spread the gospel. Here is the first video:
There is also a pdf version of the video talk and also a pdf training manual that can be used with the videos.

Classic books

Last week Fred Sanders from the Scriptorium blog list the top twelve theology books from the history of Christianity. Obviously this is a subjective list, but there is no doubting it is a list of twelve awesome books.
When I saw the list I instantly thought a lot would be available free on Christian Classics Ethereal Library, as they were primarily classic literature. Then, just as I was about to write this post Fred sent an update confirming that eleven of the twelve books are available free!. Ten of these are from Christian Classics Ethereal Library, and one (Cyril of Alexandria) from The Tertullian Project. In fact the other one, the first on the list below is books from the bible so I trust you will all be okay getting a copy of that!
I have added these books to my list of ‘must-read’ titles to study. We have such a heritage of superb and deep Christian writing it is crazy not to read them.
Here is the full list of titles:
- The Bible. Selections: Paul’s Letters and the Gospel of John.
- Irenaeus of Lyons, Demonstration of the Apostolic Preaching.
- Athanasius of Alexandria, On the Incarnation.
- Gregory of Nazianzus, The Five Theological Orations.
- Cyril of Alexandria, On the Unity of Christ.
- Augustine of Hippo, The Enchiridion on Faith, Hope, and Love.
- Anselm of Canterbury, Cur Deus Homo (Why God Became Man).
- Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiae selections.
- Martin Luther, Selections.
- John Calvin, The Institutes.
- The Heidelberg Catechism by Ursinus and Olevianus
- John Bunyan, Pilgrim’s Progress.
Is there any books you would add to this list?

The Answers in Genesis website, has released four new chapters of its online ‘The New Answers Book’. If you want a bit of background to the book then you can read my review from a few weeks ago.
The new articles are:
- Chapter 11: How Did Animals Spread All Over the World from Where the Ark Landed?
- Chapter 12: What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs?
- Chapter 13: Why Don’t We Find Human & Dinosaur Fossils Together?
- Chapter 14: Can Catastrophic Plate Tectonics Explain Flood Geology?
So if any of these questions are plaguing your mind it may be worth checking out AiG.

The Answers in Genesis website, has released three new chapters of its online ‘The New Answers Book’. If you want a bit of background to the book then you can read my review from a few weeks ago.
I particularly recommend the chapter on the flood, as it is a good summary of the various arguments and has plenty of links to additional and more detailed articles.

The new articles are:
- What About the Gap Theory & Ruin-Reconstruction Theories?
- Cain’s Wife—Who Was She?
- Doesn’t Carbon-14 Dating Disprove the Bible?
These three chapters cover three interesting areas particularly Cain’s wife which can be a logical stumbling block for many.
new content
Answer in Genesis have added a whole new section to their website with articles focused on apologetics for children. It is a beautiful website and the quality of the design is instantly apparent.
Many of the articles focus on showing God’s glory through nature. There are also lots of games, some which you play online and others which you can print off and do away from the computer. On top of that they also have some videos with the current main one being ‘Dangerous Journey’ which is an animation based on Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress.
