Don’t waste your life – Desire God!

The Don’t Waste Your Life website/blog from Desiring God has recently been given an uplift. It is targeted to younger people (in their 20s) but would appeal to other people too. The inspiration for the site has come from John Piper’s book of the same name. You can read this well received and challenging book free online at the Desiring God website.

Free Devotions of Saint Anselm now at CCEL

ccel logoThe devotions of Saint Anselm have recently been added to the The Christian Classics Ethereal Library. Saint Anselm was born near the border between what are now Italy and France (Aosta, Piedmont). He became the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1093, and is considered by many to be one of the most influential thinkers of medieval Europe and Christianity. Anselm was passionate that faith in God could be explained through reason and his motto was credo ut intelligam (“I believe so that I may understand”).

Help improve the Christian Classics Library

The Christian Classics Ethereal Library will now allow their various books to be searched by tags that users have added. I recently mentioned this functionality had been added, but CCEL are keen for people to start tagging books to allow it to really work well. If you are interested in helping then tag away at CCEL whilst reading superb Christian books at the same time!

JC Ryle Holiness Free Christian Book

Recommended book – Ryle’s Holiness

If you are looking for a book to read at the moment then look no further than this classic.

Tim Challie’s has come up with the idea on his blog of reading through great Christian books at a comfortable pace, and then having a discussion about it on his blog. The first contender up for this global book club is J.C. Ryle’s Holiness.

I need new Christian answers!

The Answers Book has been a top-seller among modern apologetic works, and has been updated over a period of 20 years. The New Answers Book is, not surprisingly, an update of this book. It is available for purchase now or you can wait and get each of the 28 chapters over the next six months as they are serialised over the web, one chapter each week.

Desiring God – review

Desiring God is the website that covers the ministry of John Piper. John Piper is the Pastor for Preaching at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is perhaps best known for his book Desiring God.

It is a superb website, with sermons (both written and in MP3 format), studies, books and more covering his ministry of twenty five years.
